A lot of dancers in Cairo now are foreigners and accept many things that they would not accept in their own country. I find it very difficult to see a dancer (Arab) in a five-star hotel with an orchestra . There is always several interesting dancers in Cairo of course ( both arab or foreigners ), But also A lot of confusion there … even some foreigners think that by dancing at the club with music that does not fit this art, they keep this art alive … I think they simply comfort the Arab public that this dance is not an art and it’s “just” a cheap entertainment made by p *****.
A foreign dancer (who works hard to learn about this art and its culture and who travels a lot to teach & since i met her some times ago, her speech is so different ) told me that Oriental dance is just an entertainment job! And being vulgar is ok as long as the public wants, dancing on cheap sounds, it’s good if the public wants. That we, the dancers who have a problem with the vulgar side, simply cause we do not accept the sexual part of this Art ( 🤔)
The oriental dance is a feminine and elegant dance, and some dancers (foreigners & Arabs ) have changed it in some sexual thing through history and time. You do not have to be sexual (or just to please a certain type of audience.)
I constantly repeat that we are responsible for the image of this art and that we must educate the public, especially the Arab public. This type of dancers only find excuses and feel stronger because other dancers do the same and are popular, in my opinion. Running after fame and money just make some grils forget their brain.

Precision: of course, there are in Egypt local low-level dancers who broadcast a bad image of the oriental dance .. but it is hidden (because it is about a socioligic phenomenon ..poverty, lack of education, prostitution…) and it is not new, contrary to what we see now with foreigners in Egypt who flood social networks and change the image of this Art
